Gene Pina is an Iraq War combat veteran who, in 2003, served in Operation Enduring Freedom. He studied film at Columbia University and was a Video Editor for ESPN from 2005-2012. He holds a BA in Music Production and Technology from the University of Hartford.

In 2017 he wrote and directed his award winning short film WARRIOR, about a female veteran who lost her leg in the war and struggles to re-enter civilian life and raise her 3 boys. WARRIOR played at numerous film festivals including 2 prestigious Academy Award Qualifying Festivals (only 10 total in the world) including LA Shorts Fest and the Rhode Island Film Festival where he won the Grand Prize in Directing.

A number of his screenplays have placed in prestigious screenwriting competitions including The Academy Nicholl Fellowship run by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, Slamdance and Scriptapalooza.

Since his short film’s success, he’s been producing corporate videos for Movement Mortgage, the law firm Injury Associates and local productions around the New England region.
